Decisions of what to use and what not to use became to much for me so, I've decided to just throw everything in. Some of the details are sacraficed but I'll give you links to more in-depth info on many of the areas I cover.

I hope good memories of days gone by will bring a smile to your face and a little joy to your heart. For those of you who don't have good memories, or any memories of those times, Its never to late to make good memories of today for your tomorrows.

My first memories of those sweet times, are of my grandfather and me sitting by the radio listening to Amos 'n' Andy. We would be snacking on saltine crackers and Skippy peanutbutter.

            RADIO

Amos 'n' Andy was listened to by millions of people back in the days before tv. When it was aired on tv the cast of characters from the radio show couldn't go with it because most all of them were white. So in 51 when Amos 'n' Andy hit the tv screens all new actors were taking over the original roles. Tim Moore was my George Stevens,(He was called the KINGFISH) Ernestine Wade was Sapphire Stevens, Spencer Williams Jr was Andy, Jonny Lee was Calhoun the shyster lawyer who George recuited to bilk Andy out of money or something else he wanted, Alvin Childress was Amos and Horace Stewert was the friendly but innocent Lightnin'.
George was the head of the "Mystic Knights of the Sea" lodge and was always trying to figure out an angle on how to get the best of his poor friend, gullible Andy Brown. His favorite phrase for Andy was "The Dummy". Amos was the taxi driver who narrated every episode and Lightnin' was the lodges janitor. From left to right below is Amos, Andy, George, Sapphire, Calhoun, Lightnin', Sapphire's mom, and Queenie, Andy's gal.
A big thanks goes to Kenny a lover of the Amos and Andy shows for reminding me about Calhoun. Thankyou again Kenny.

I'll never forget when we got our first tv, WOW, what an event that was. Dad put up a long pole with this weird looking fingered attachment on it, on our roof. The whole world now knew We had a tv.

Morning weekends and afterschool was our time but the evenings belonged to mom and dad. Of course our time came with conditions like homework and chores or no tv.
Television was black and white back then, we didn't get color until awhile later and it was just a cellophane paper that you put on your screen. So one third of the screen was blue, one third was green and one third was red. As you can imagine it didn't work to well.

Ok now you can check out some of the tv shows we watched back then. Be sure to come back here for the rest of the oldies memories with pic and sounds.

Now its time to wander in to see some of the Prime Time tv shows. These were all definitely family shows no pg warnings given here. Our society back then was much less aware of the evils of life and somewhat naive. But the lessons taught on those shows were lessons that each one of us should still teach our young ones.
That society was from a simpler age and was orientated toward the philosphy of stay at home moms. Everyone has their own opinion as to how good or bad that was.
Come away with me again to those PRIME TIME tv shows. Then when your finished there come back here for your entry into some of the shoot em up detectivie shows of that time.

Ok, now that you've had enough of those sweeter then sugar family shows its time to see how our society then dealt with the subject of get the bad guys. Some of those private eye shows were pretty darn good. I was into the Fugitive myself.

That fugitive was cute too, don't you think? Now back to the days of yester-year. Westerns were the thing and we had some great ones. If you like Dr. Quinn you would have liked or did like some of our cowboy shows. We had quite a few then but i'm only giving you a little sample. Are you tired yet? Hope not, there's lots more to come.
